Chery Fulwin A9 available for preordering

The Chery Fulwin A9 sedan that debuted at the Auto Shanghai show last week is now available for ordering in China.

The car runs on the E0X platform and is sized 5,018 x 1,965 x 1,500 millimeters large with 3,000 mm between the axles. It is a five-seater by default with a bench seat in the back, but you can pay a premium and get four individual seats instead.

The Fulwin A9 is coming to the market in two plug-in hybrid variants. One packs a 1.5-liter engine and a single e-motor (FWD), while the other one adds a rear motor for an electric AWD setup. The company claims that fuel consumption bottoms out at record-low 0.52 liters per 100 kilometers in ideal conditions. That’s 452.3 miles per U.S. gallon, although we suspect “ideal conditions” plays a big role here.

The battery on board stores 33.7 kilowatt-hours and yields 200 km (124 miles) per charge. With the tank and the charge maxed, the hybrid can go on for 1,500 km (932 miles) before needing a refill.
