Ford GT-inspired hypercar now confirmed for production

In May 2024, US-based Lynx Motors announced plans for a street-legal hypercar closely based on Ford’s GT1 Le Mans racer. It’s now official that the car is getting a production run of 28 units.

Graham Rahal Performance will handle the assembly in Indiana. Every example will receive a Ricardo six-speed manual transmission and an eight-cylinder engine supercharged to more than 1,217 PS (1,200 hp / 895 kW).

You will be able to tell the replica from the original by its widened body and track, as well as optimized aero. Based on the photos, there will be an aggressive front splitter, canards and a rear wing.

The interior isn’t too detailed at this point. The only image we have of it reveals a leather trim with carbon weave patterns throughout and an aftermarket steering wheel. It looks like a 3D rendering, though, so the design may not be final.

Lynx Motors mentions on its website that the car will presumably start from $1,700,000. Some of the info on the page appears outdated, though. For example, the description states that there are two variants of the car called Gulf and Eau Rouge. The former is listed as twin-turbo instead of supercharged. Apparently, track-only special editions are also in the plans.

On an interesting side note, the company says it won’t be basing the car on any mass-produced supercar chassis. For all we know, it might be planning on acquiring leftover chasses of the first-gen GT from Ford.
