Video: Listen to a Honda S200 sing a V10 song

The Honda S2000 owes its model designation to a 2,000cc (2-liter) engine under the hood. By the extension of that logic, you could say this monstrosity here is an S8300.

Several shops from the U.S. East Coast spent countless hours on the project. To fit a Dodge Viper V10 under the hood, they had to fabricate an all-new frame, reinforce the drivetrain from start to end and redesign the axles. They also installed a Ford Explorer rear differential to keep all that power going where it’s most needed.

Speaking of the power: the engine delivered 517 PS (510 hp / 380 kW) before the swap. It was later upgraded with forged pistons, stainless-steel connecting rods, optimized cylinder heads and a sports-grade exhaust system. The owner says it’s now ready for a thousand horsepower, but doesn’t clarify whether it’s theoretical or actual.

Even with that caveat, there are at least two remarkable things about the build. First, it features a 47-to-53 weight distribution ratio – quite an accomplishment for a swap you’d expect to be extremely front-heavy. Second, it manages to weigh just 1,450 kg (3,200 lbs) after the conversion. Needless to say, it comes with suspension and brake upgrades rated to handle the extra weight and power.
