Car Tuning
Austrian tuning firm JUBU Performance has devised a complex tuning program for the Lotus Emira. If you ever wondered why the British automaker’s new sports car ended up 10 horsepower below the old Evora GT, here’s a radical solution to that problem.
The package is called Clubsport 600 and promises a boost to 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque once installed. That’s about 50% more power and torque than the V6 Emira has straight from the factory (sorry, the turbo I4 version isn’t eligible for the tuning).
JUBU says it implemented a dry-sump lubrication system, reworked the control unit logic and even went as far as to move the engine to a new, lower mounting point at an angle. It’s quite a lot of work, but the company argues that the resulting lower center of gravity improves steering in corners.
On the exterior side of things, the car is instantly recognizable thanks to a distinct body kit and lowered suspension. Carbon-fiber body panels and carbon-backed bucket seats make it weigh 120 kilos (265 pounds) less than stock. Four-point safety harnesses and a roll bar are included as well.
The caveat? A tuned Lotus like this will cost you a pretty penny – €199,000, to be exact. If you’d rather have your own car tuned, that’ll be €109,000. With the stock Emira starting from €112,500 in Europe, you may be better off going with a prebuilt example.
