Striking Mini JCW duo promotes a fashion brand

Mini will be bringing two John Cooper Works hatchbacks to the impending IAA Mobility Show in Munich. Both are co-designed with the fashion brand Deus Ex Machina, and while one runs on petrol and the other one on electricity, neither will reach production. You’ll still be able to buy thematic clothes, though.

Starting with the car called Machina, it’s executed in red, white and black with flared fenders. The hood rocks a retro light bar, and the radiator grille is completely new. The rear end accommodates a racing-style roof spoiler and a diffuser.

The interior is minimalistic and houses bucket seats with racing harnesses, a three-spoke steering wheel, a hydraulic handbrake and a roll cage. A stock 2.0-liter turbo four-pot still delivers its stock 231 PS (228 hp / 170 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque to the asphalt.

The other car is called Skeg and is all about a day at the beach. It sports a silver body with black and yellow graphics, wears lots of custom glass-fiber trim and has particularly giant fender flares. The same applies to the rear spoiler, which is about as over the top as they go. The interior is trimmed with neoprene and has cloth loops for door handles. A stock e-motor supplies 258 PS (254 hp / 190 kW) alongside 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque.

While the cars themselves are not for sale, you’ll be able to buy Mini x Deus Ex Machina apparel starting from Monday, September 8.
