Huawei and BAIC team up on a new battery sedan

The Stelato S9 is the first production EV from the Stelato brand co-founded between BAIC and Huawei. It will go on sale in China soon and reach other countries later.

The S9 is 5,160 mm (201.56 inches) long, 1,987 mm (77.62 in) wide and 1,486 mm (58.05 in) tall with 3,050 mm (119.14 in) between the axles. It features a slick aerodynamic body, flush door handles and video cameras where the side mirrors usually are. The wheels are sized 21 inches in diameter.

Huawei supplies the powertrain and CATL provides the battery. In its most basic trim, the car makes do with a single 309-PS (305-hp / 227-kW) motor on the rear axle. The AWD version gets a second motor to drive the front axle with 215 PS (212 hp / 158 kW).

Customer deliveries in China will begin this summer. Stelato plans to start exporting the S9 to select markets in Europe and Asia before the end of the year.
