€700k HWA Evo restomod presents specs

HWA, a famous engineering company from Affalterbach, Germany, has shared new info regarding its most ambitious project to date – a revival of the iconic Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II. No more than 100 units will be built and offered from €714,000 before taxes and options.

Despite sporting the unmistakable looks of the original sedan from 34 years ago, the HWA Evo is almost all-new and original. According to the Technical Director of the company, Gordian von Schening, the car consists of 75% new parts. This has a positive effect on torsional rigidity, which is said to be more than twice as good as the original’s.

It’s important to note that the restomod doesn’t use any parts from the exclusive 190 E 2.5-16 EVO II series of just 502 units. It is based on the regular model 190 and its frame, but benefits from racing-grade aluminum subframes and high-tensile steel reinforcements.

The dual-wishbone suspension at both ends is inspired by DTM racecars, a nod to the Evo II’s victory at this racing series 32 years ago. H&R sway bars and KW shock absorbers enable a smooth ride and support both manual and automatic adjustments.

The powertrain centers around a 3.0-liter V6 tuned to deliver 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW), although the company will boost it to 500 PS (492 hp / 369 kW) if desired. A six-speed manual transmission conveys the momentum. The mounting points of the engine and transmission have been changed for a perfect 50:50 per-axle weight distribution ratio.

Among other things, clients will be able to choose between steel and carbon-ceramic brakes from Bosch.
