Video: Tesla-swapped Dodge Challenger Hellcat cooking donuts

A car enthusiast from the USA acquired a wrecked Tesla Model S Plaid and thought to use its powertrain in a minivan project, but later decided to try and build an electric Dodge Challenger Hellcat instead.

According to Kyle Wade, the host of the BoostedBoiz channel on YouTube, he was surprised when he discovered just how similar the wheelbases of the two cars were. Specifically, the Tesla had 2,959 mm (116.5 inches) between the axles, and the Dodge had 7 mm (0.4 inches) less than that. He still had to spend some time fitting the body of the American muscle car onto the EV platform, but it helped that he managed to procure full Challenger bodywork for as little as $700.

The result is a supercar that weighs 1,964 kilos (4,300 lbs) and pumps out 1,033 PS (1,020 hp / 760 kW) through its three motors. Considering that the original Plaid sedan is roughly 250 kilos (550 lbs) heavier, this Hellcat may as well prove faster in a straight line. In the meantime, you can check out this short video where it does some nice drift donuts.
