Baojun Xiangjing bows in China

Chinese car brand Baojun (owned by SAIC-GM-Wuling) has revealed the Xiangjing, its first large sedan. It is coming to the market in PHEV and BEV flavors in the first half of 2025, Car News China says.

Baojun has almost exclusively produced subcompacts so far, but the Xiangjing is a notable exception. It is 5,005 x 1,900 x 1,490 mm large with 2,900 mm between the axles. The hybrid and the EV look rather different – the headlights, the bumpers and the badge positions all vary depending on the powertrain. You can tell the hybrid by its actual radiator grille – the EV has a stub there.

Little is known about the powertrains so far. The car had been previously registered in the Ministry of Industry database under the name “Yunguang”. It was entered there with a single e-motor rated at 253 PS (250 hp / 186 kW) and a top speed of 170 km/h (105 mph). The hybrid was submitted with a 1.5-liter petrol engine, 143 PS (141 hp / 105 kW) and an e-motor. Its top speed was specified as 190 km/h (118 mph) and its CLTC-rated range as 101 km (63 miles). The patents also mentioned LiFePo4 batteries, but not the capacity. All these specs aren’t guaranteed and remain to be confirmed.

We do know what the Baojun Xiangjing looks like from the inside thanks to spy photos. There are standalone dash and infotainment screens, a squared-off steering wheel and two cup holders in the center console. The automaker praises the model as an “intelligent and ultra-comfortable family sedan”, highlighting that it comes with an optional Lingmou Intelligent Driving 2.0 Max ADAS.
