Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed reaches production

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the AMG PureSpeed, its next limited-edition supercar for collectors. Inspired by a May concept by the same name, the PureSpeed debuted on the Yas Marina Raceway at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, right before the conclusion of this year’s F1 season.

Most of the equipment comes from the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 convertible the car is based on. This includes the 4.0-liter V8 boosted to 585 PS (577 hp / 430 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. An AMG Speedshift MCT nine-speed auto carries the torque to all four wheels through AMG Performance 4Matic+. Just like its donor, the PureSpeed needs 3.6 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) and doesn’t go beyond 315 km/h (195 mph).

Other notable features include AMG Active Ride Control suspension with hydraulic sway stabilizers, rear-wheel steering, 21-inch forged wheels decorated with carbon trims, and ceramic compound brakes.

Inside, the biggest novelty comes in the form of an IWC Schaffhausen chronograph mounted in the middle of the dashboard. All buyers get a pair of low-drag helmets with their purchase with a built-in intercom for speaking with the passenger. Alternatively, you can connect the helmets to a smartphone and listen to music.
