Nissan buries baby SUV EV plans for USA

Nissan is facing an urgent need to reconsider its electrification strategy in the United States, and one car has just been confirmed axed.

It’s a compact-sized all-electric crossover utility vehicle previously announced under a temporary name “PZ1L”. Nissan had planned to fit it between the affordable Leaf and the pricy Ariya models in the North American lineup, but it looks like it won’t be happening now. The PZ1L remains in a production queue for Europe, though.

Considering President Donald Trump’s intentions to stop subsidizing EV makers in the US, it is only logical for Nissan to cut its losses where it cannot make a profit anymore.
