VW Arteon retires for good

The history of the Volkswagen Arteon ends today as the final Shooting Brake example has rolled off the assembly line in Osnabrück, Germany.

The Arteon debuted in 2017 in two body styles – liftback and Shooting Brake. The former went out of production a couple of years ago, while the latter stayed a while longer. Volkswagen’s initial plans involved making it all the way until 2026, but the company’s recent financial troubles forced it to reconsider.

In their several years of production, the Arteon liftback and Shooting Brake have sold a combined 190,000 units, the company says.
