Ill-fated, Ferrari-derived six-wheel monster from GMG hits the road at last

Like we told you before, Gas Monkey Garage apparently had a really hard time finishing its unhinged tri-axle Testarossa build after severing ties with Danton Art Kustoms and other partners. Many thought back then that the project would be shelved, but here it is after all – just don’t expect to find a Ferrari engine under the hood.

For some reason, the builder had to ditch the Italian supercar’s original flat-12 block and put a 6.2-liter LT4 V8 in its place. The mill was sourced from a C7 Chevy Corvette, where it produced 660 PS (650 hp / 485 kW) and 881 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque. We were unable to find any mentions of output in the announcement, so we suppose it still makes the same amount in the Testarossa.

Another baffling thing about this already outlandish build is the drive configuration. GMG claims it utilizes a purpose-built “all-wheel drive” system of some sort, but it apparently only drives the four wheels at the back, letting the front two spin passively. That’s 6x4, and a rather unusual implementation of it, at that. One has to wonder how well the car handles in corners, and the videos linked above don’t leave us convinced.

Elsewhere, the world’s first-and-hopefully-only Testarossa six-wheeler features a strongly modified body with lots of added custom panels, a sporty-looking aero kit including a giant rear wing mounted straight on the chassis, and a black Alcantara cabin with red accents.

Just how much this so-called Ferrari F6 cost to create remains unknown. Since GMG founder Richard Collins apparently no longer does business with the tuners who helped get the project started, it’s also well on track to forever remain a one-off. But then again, the very notion of cutting into the chassis of a Ferrari is crazy enough to applaud these guys for trying. Don’t you think?
