Bond-themed Aston Martin DB9 sells for $57,007

Daniel Craig, the most recent James Bond on screen, has been advertising BYD EVs lately, but most of us still remember the Agent 007 being partial to Aston Martin classics. The DB9 seen above seems to have rolled straight off a filming set with flamethrowers in its front bumper and an American heart under the hood. Purists will be offended, but this coupe just traded hands on Bring a Trailer for a cool $57,007.

According to the listing, the car was issued in 2006 and eventually got into a crash, earning it a salvage title. Rather than sending it to the junk press, the owner decided to contact Florida-based auto shop Conquer Custom asking for a full restoration. This is how the British classic ended with a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 under the hood.

There is no mention of the output, but we suppose that a custom air intake, sports-grade cylinder heads and a modern Holley ECU let the mill extract no less than its nominal 435 PS (429 hp / 320 kW) from its considerable displacement. A four-speed Corvette automatic conveys the momentum to the rear wheels.

While he was at it, the owner ordered the front end equipped with fake machine guns doubling as flamethrowers, as well as a smokescreen generator, a bespoke center console and a Bond-inspired dash cluster. The flame jets are produced by a mixture of propane and oxygen; both gases are stored in dedicated tanks in the trunk.

With a showy ride like this, you’d expect it to sell for more than fifty-seven grand, but the listing made it clear that there were some issues needing attention. Although otherwise street-legal, this DB9 needed its windshield wipers fixed before use. It also came with a warning to pour fuel slowly, suggesting an issue with the gas tank opening. One way or another, it’s still a looker, don’t you think?
