Ferrari considers bringing back the stick shift

Ferrari got rid of the gated manual transmission 13 years ago, replacing it with handy steering wheel stalks. The decision didn’t sit well with many of the Italian brand’s fans, who wanted their traditional gearbox back.

Gianmaria Fulgenzi, Head of Sports Car Development at Ferrari, has now revealed in an interview that the company is seriously considering bringing the stick back. However, even if the decision gets greenlit, it will only apply to the marque’s “Icons”.

The moniker refers to the most expensive and exclusive vehicles, even by Ferrari standards. Mass-produced cars won’t see the manual transmission return anytime soon.
