Novelties
As you must have heard, Ford will be releasing the extreme Raptor R version of its F-150 pickup soon. According to The Drive quoting an alleged spec sheet leak, the truck will come equipped with a new high-performance V8 engine borrowed from the Mustang GT500.
Allegedly, someone made a photo of the spec sheet at the factory and posted it in social media, revealing a new engine option for the F-150 with 5.2 liters of displacement. This is unusual, since the current F-150 Raptor maxes out at its 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost.
Only the top-tier Mustangs get the 5.2-liter V8 powertrain. For instance, there is the renowned Shelby Mustang GT500, which steadily pumps out 760 PS (750 hp / 559 kW). Shelby American has other, rarer vehicles on offer with this engine dialed up to 900 PS (888 hp / 662 kW).
All details, including the premiere date, remain to be announced. All we know is that Ford admitted a while ago that it was exploring the market viability of a V8-powered pickup. The Drive expects the truck to break cover later in the year and go on pre-order this fall.
