The legendary Ford Mustang “Eleanor” from the crime drama “Gone in 60 Seconds” spawned so many imitations that you can easily find one on the aftermarket at any time. This particular example is rather special, though: it’s a convertible.
Working with a 1967 Ford Mustang, the body shop rebuilt it as new with a 7.5-liter Ford Racing V8 under the hood. The listing neglected to mention the output, but a new intake system, intercooler, cylinder headers and exhaust parts should ensure a bit of extra thrust. The transmission is three-speed automatic, and the drive is on the rear wheels.
While the exterior faithfully recreates its movie counterpart – sans the roof – the interior deserves a separate mention. It maintains the same layout as the original, but houses a Retro Sound multimedia system, Kicker speakers with a subwoofer, and a wooden-rimmed steering wheel. The seats are wrapped in practical black vinyl and benefit from not being the squeaky originals. All in all, it’s a perfect blend of retro and modern, as far as we are concerned.
The winning bidder parted with $135,000.
