Alfa Romeo introduces the Milano, its first EV

The electric Alfa Romeo Milano will go on sale in Europe in the autumn, and a hybrid version is rumored to be coming later as well.

The car rides on the same Stellantis Group chassis as the Jeep Avenger or the Peugeot 2008, but has its own exterior and interior design. It is 4,170 mm (162.9 inches) long, 1,780 mm (69.5 in) wide and 1,500 mm (58.6 in) tall with 2,560 mm (100 in) between the axles.

The infotainment system makes use of two 10.25-inch displays and shows the video feed from the standard reversing camera. Alcantara-wrapped Sabelt sport seats are optional.

There is not one, but two all-electric powertrains to choose from – the entry-level Elettrica and the advanced Veloce. Starting with the Elettrica, it combines a motor rated at 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) with a 54-kWh battery pack rated for 410 km (255 miles) per charge. You can charge it up from 10 to 80 percent in half an hour if you plug it into a 100kW charging point.

The Veloce uses the same battery, but a superior 240-PS (237-hp / 177-kW) motor. It also rides 25 mm (1 inch) lower than the Elettrica thanks to a sport suspension, benefits from sharper steering, and has heavy-duty brakes installed behind 20-inch wheels.

Rumor has it that, like many other Stellantis SUVs, the Milano will get a hybrid version later on. The company’s standard hybrid powertrain comprises a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine and a small-time electric motor joining their efforts for 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW). There’s also an all-wheel-drive version of this powertrain that adds a 41-PS (40-hp / 30-kW) motor to the rear axle.
