Audi unveils the next-gen A6 lineup

In keeping with the Ingolstadt automaker’s new naming scheme, the name “A6” now denotes fully electric vehicles – a liftback and an estate. Orders in Europe will be processed from the next month starting from €75,600 for the base trim and €99,500 for the dual-motor S6 model.

The cheapest A6 you can get is called “e-tron performance”. It has a single electric motor with 367 PS (362 hp / 270 kW) at the rear axle and needs 5.4 seconds to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph).

The S6 delivers 550 PS (542 hp / 405 kW) to the asphalt using its dual motors and hits 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. It can also attain a top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph), while the A6 e-tron is capped at 210 km/h (130 mph).

Both versions use the same 100-kWh battery pack. The single-motor one gets up to 756 km (470 miles) of range out of it, while the dual-motor one gets 675 km (419 mph). In select countries, Audi plans to offer a different spec called the A6 e-tron quattro. It will pack two motors and 428 PS (422 hp / 315 kW).

If you would rather wait for the gas-powered Audi A6 lineup to be updated, then note that the company renamed it to “A7”. The logic is as follows: all even numbers (2, 4, 6 and 8) in Audi model designations now denote electric vehicles, while the odd numbers (3, 5 and 7) refer to traditional ICE cars.
