Seat Leon celebrates 25th birthday
The Leon hatchback and wagon are a quarter of a century old now.
The first generation went into production in the summer of 1999 based on the same platform and tech as the Volkswagen Golf Mk4. The current Seat Leon is going through its fourth generation in Spain, running on MQB underpinnings. The lineup is four years old and was last refreshed this spring.
According to Seat, the company has shipped around 2,500,000 Leon units so far – and this is not counting any Cupra-branded examples.
