1 of 25 Gemballa Mirage GT coupes heads to auction

Mecum Auctions will be holding a sale at the Monterey Car Week on August 15th dedicated, among other things, to one of the 25 existing Gemballa Mirage GT supercars. It’s unknown how much the sleek dark grey ride may fetch.

Uwe Gemballa’s German business started the production of the Mirage GT shortly after the donor car – the Porsche Carrera GT – left the assembly line. The example seen here appears to have been made in 2007 based on a model year 2004 chassis powered by a 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V10. Equipped with a high-flow exhaust system, it is now said to be capable of 654 PS (645 hp / 481 kW). Sprinting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) is a matter of less than four seconds.

The exterior is where the Gemballa craftsmanship truly shone back in the era. Most of the bodywork seen in the gallery above is custom-fabricated, especially the front end with its sleek low-drag bumper and muscular hood. The rear end boasts a massive wing and a diffuser with four integrated tailpipes, while added side skirts help tie the different styling elements together. Last but not least, there’s an eye-catching air scoop on the roof.

The dark grey theme continues in the cabin with its Alcantara trim and yellow contrast stitching. Carbon-fiber details can be found throughout the dashboard and the transmission tunnel, and the infotainment system on board is also new.
