Check out the eccentric Rinspeed Porsche R69 Turbo

Swiss tuner Rinspeed is famous for its many radical Porsche builds, some of them more controversial than others. This Porsche 911 Turbo G mimicking as the Ferrari Testarossa is a specimen from the latter category.

The unusual conversion debuted at the 1985 Geneva International Motor Show wearing a wide body kit, a flat front and aerodynamic gills down the sides. The headlights were redesigned to pop up from the hood. Overall, the Testarossa imitation was fine, but not flawless.

The rear is perhaps the worst offender, with both Porsche and Ferrari fans agreeing on it being too complicated, shapeless and overblown. The lack of the rear wing also looks weird, although there is a roof spoiler trying to substitute for it.

The Rinspeed Porsche R69 Turbo comes powered by the stock opposite-six engine bolstered by a Ruf turbocharger. Customers could choose between 374 and 395 horsepower (279 or 295 kilowatts, respectively). The original Testarossa extracted comparable 390 hp (291 kW) out of its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V12.

There is a handful of such conversions out there in Coupe and Roadster body versions, but the specific production quantity was never disclosed.
