Amazon shuts down its Smart Cockpit project

The U.S. corporation will not be developing its own in-car digital ecosystem, after all.

The original vision of the Smart Cockpit was heavily reliant on its implementation across the Stellantis vehicle range. The first cars with this infotainment system on board were supposed to be released last year, but they never arrived. Neither party has commented on it, although we suppose that the financial and management troubles of Stellantis could play a major role.

A number of media in the United States have now received a confirmation that Amazon and Stellantis broke off their cooperation agreement and shelved the project. Moving forward, Stellantis Group automakers will be putting the Android Automotive OS into their cars instead.
