Audi recalls EVs over battery issues

Audi has announced a recall of 6,499 e-tron GT examples over faulty traction battery packs.

If your electric car runs on power cells from LG Energy, it may short-circuit and catch on fire. To avoid it, the German company strongly advises drivers to keep the charge at or below 80%.

The engineering crew is busy developing an advanced method for testing the battery packs right now. The actual recall campaign won’t start until it is ready, so it may take a while until you can charge to 100% again.

This isn’t all. A similar issue has been discovered in the Porsche Taycan, which runs on the same platform. In United States alone, Audi will be recalling nearly 28,000 Taycan EVs once it is ready to diagnose and fix them.
