Ferrari unveils the Luce EV, its first-ever electric supercar

The world’s first battery-powered Ferrari outputs 1,050 PS to the wheels, sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 2.5 seconds and starts from €520,000 in Europe.

Design-wise, the new supercar looks like no other Ferrari. It features a slightly futuristic, clean and geometric body with a bare minimum of details. It also rides on the brand’s biggest wheels so far, sized 23 inches in diameter at the front and 24 inches at the rear end. The body length comes to 5,026 mm (197.9 inches), and the wheelbase amounts to 2,961 mm (116.6 inches).

If you are wondering about the design, it’s far from being coincidental. Ferrari contracted a third-party studio, LoveFrom, to conceptualize the car. It was co-founded by former Apple designers Marc Newson and Jony Ive, explaining the similarities. If you’ve seen the interior when it was revealed a couple of months ago, you’ll know that it makes use of the same brushed aluminum and tempered glass details as some iPhones. The Luce also comes equipped with a 21-speaker audio system and a rounded-square infotainment display, but most of the controls inside are physical.

Powering the ride are four e-motors summing up to the aforementioned 1,050 PS (1,036 hp / 772 kW). The torque can briefly rise to 11,500 Nm (8,482 lb-ft). Drivers get torque vectoring, multiple drive presets and a handful of togglable electronic safeguards. The range doesn’t exceed 530 kilometers (330 miles), but that’s due to the car itself weighing 2,260 kilograms (4,982 lbs). The Ferrari Purosangue crossover is usually 100-200 kilos (220-440 lbs) lighter than that, depending on the modification.

North America launch is slated for Q2 2027.
