2026 Jeep Cherokee previewed with a boxier body, reasonable tech

Jeep has posted a handful of photos and a video showing the next-generation Cherokee. The production starts in late 2025, but the SUV will be revealed in the coming fall.

It’s already clear that the new version will be a return to form for the Cherokee. The lines, while somewhat smoothed, still stay fairly angular and put us in mind of the earlier generations (check out the video for a nice comparison). One of the images reveals the rear end with the taillights, c-pillar outlines and some of the tailgate. Overall, it looks similar to the all-electric Jeep Recon 4xe slated for launch at the end of the year.

By all indications, the new Cherokee is based on the STLA Large platform by Stellantis. A while ago, Jeep promised us a highly efficient and powerful hybrid powertrain for it, as well as a competitive price. Once out, the SUV will slot in between the Compass and the Grand Cherokee. ICE and EV variants might be released later on, because the platform is versatile enough to allow it.
