U.S.-spec Audi SQ7 gets eight cylinders, Q7 makes do with six

Soon after unveiling the third generation of its Q7 crossover in Europe, Audi has announced its variant for North America. It’s slated to arrive in the showrooms in late 2026 packing a potent 4.0-liter V8 in the SQ7 spec.

Buyers opting for the SQ7 will get 600 PS (591 hp / 441 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque routed to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Sprinting from zero to 96.6 km/h (60 mph) will only take 3.7 seconds, which Audi claims is better than the BMW X5 M60i and even the Porsche Cayenne S can do. Adaptive air suspension and performance brakes will be included as standard in this spec.

On the exterior side of things, you’ll be able to recognize the new SQ7 by its larger wheels (up to 23 inches in diameter), a special aero kit and a blackout package available as a paid option for those who’d rather not see any nature-harming chrome on their luxury SUV. Interior features mentioned so far include three displays with a 14.5-inch head unit, a four-zone HVAC, bucket seats and a panoramic roof with nine separately dimmable sections.

In turn, the regular Audi Q7 will get the same 2.9-liter V6 as the American RS5. Tuned to deliver 435 PS (429 hp / 320 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque, it can take you from standstill to 60 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds.

All pricing details for the U.S. market are pending. The European version starts from €87,900 or $101,600 at the current rates, so that should give you a rough idea. Note that the production of the U.S. version will still take place in Bratislava, Slovakia, implying trans-Atlantic import costs and potential tariffs.
