Check out a Ferrari 250 replica that costs 1/10 of the original

GTO Engineering is a British tune-up shop that specializes in building replicas of mid-20th-century Ferraris. Their latest offering is the 250 SWB Revival, which painstakingly recreates the legendary 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione.

Like its famous ancestor, the imitation vehicle comes based on a tubular space-frame encased in handmade aluminum bodywork. The engineering team took meticulous measurements off a vanilla Ferrari racecar to ensure that the proportions are correct down to a millimeter. As a result, the copy is virtually indistinguishable from the original. Each coupe is built to specification and can be road-legal or a pure track day tool.

However, whereas the original Berlinetta packs a V12 worth 284 hp (212 kW), the replica comes with three gasoline engines to choose from. Displacement room varies between three and four liters, and transmission can be four- or five-speed manual. The cheapest option on offer exerts the same 284 hp (212 kW).

The brakes feature the same design as the ones used in the mid-20th-century era car, but customers may opt for a more modern substitute with aluminum calipers and 15” or 16” discs.

Like its source of inspiration, the 250 SWB Revival boasts an interior wrapped in genuine leather and has 1960s-style ceiling upholstery. Air conditioning, safety belts, USB charger ports and sat-nav are all listed under options.

Each vehicle takes between 12 and 18 months to build. The tuner claims it has succeeded in selling three dozen cars already starting above $1,000,000 USD. This might seem like a ridiculous amount of money to ask for a replica, but do keep in mind that the original car will set you back $13 – $14 million at the very least.
