Classic Recreations backpedals from bankruptcy, unveils its next Mustang

Around a year ago, Florida-based Ford Mustang specialist Classic Recreations announced impending closure over what sounded like a multi-million debt. It ended up rescued by another local shop, Velocity Restorations, and even retained its license to build Shelby-inspired luxury restomods. Naturally, the next logical step was to unveil another such restomod.

The car seen here is loosely inspired by the 1967 Shelby GT500, which is to say it’s almost all new. The body has been redone from scratch using fine carbon fiber and adorned with Shelb’'s signature racing stripes in black. Bespoke carbon-trimmed wheels made it into the arches, and a look behind the dual-five-spokes reveals Wilwood performance brakes.

The interior wound up with modern noise proofing, a Focal audio system, a head unit with a modest-sized touchscreen and black leather upholstery all around with red stitching for contrast.

Customers ordering this Mustang are limited to Ford’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8 for engine, but output numbers and prices vary a lot. The base spec produces 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW) and 678 Nm (500 lb-ft) of torque, and goes for a cool $549,900 before options. The two top specs use a supercharger to drive the power output to either 710 or 912 PS (700 or 900 hp; 522 or 671 kW, respectively). The 900-hp version starts from eye-watering $724,900.
