Cupra Formentor gets H&R coilovers

The suspension gurus over at H&R released standard lowering springs for the sporty Cupra Formentor VZ5 crossover around a year ago (see video). They have now followed up with a more sophisticated height-adjustable kit.

The new coilovers are compatible with all versions of the Spanish SUV starting from model year 2021. You can use them to drop the ride height by 25–40 mm (0.98–1.56 mm) at the front axle and by 30–45 mm (1.17–1.76 mm) at the rear axle. Doing so should improve handling in corners and generally result in a sportier stance without impacting long-range comfort too much, the vendor claims.

In Germany where these springs are made, they cost €1,330. The one thing to note is that the electronics in the Formentor don’t take well to new suspension components, spamming the screen with error messages if you replace the originals. H&R offers a plug-in chip to suppress these messages, but it bumps up the total to €1,640.
