Brembo buys out suspension specialist Öhlins for $405M

Öhlins Racing, a subsidiary of Tenneco, and Brembo N.V. have concluded a deal worth 405,000,000 USD according to which the two companies join as one to expand their product lineups.

Öhlins Racing was founded in Sweden in 1976 and has since opened a second factory in Thailand. It is also running R&D centers in Germany and the United States, with a total staff of 500 people or so.

In turn, brake system manufacturer Brembo has grown considerably over the past years and acquired a number of businesses from its own industry, including bike/ATV brake vendor SBS Friction.

The executives of both companies have commented on the acquisition, saying it would benefit both companies and let them expand the range of products offered. The deal has yet to be officially approved next year.
