BMW plant in Hungary starts churning out cars

The Bavarian automaker’s new assembly line in Debrecen, Hungary has just put together its first pre-production vehicles.

The company decided to start things off with all-electric “Neue Klasse” SUVs. They left the premises wrapped in camo and proceeded to their road tests. Later on, the production site will specialize in making these and other Neue Klasse EVs, BMW says.

The foundation of the factory in Hungary was laid in the summer of 2022 (see video). The construction is now complete, but some equipment still needs calibrating, and full-scale production isn’t expected to begin until late 2025.
