DS unveils the cabin of its model no. 8

DS Automobiles has shared the first interior images of its next all-electric flagship: the №8. It has also partially revealed its rear end. The luxury yacht-inspired car will debut in a couple weeks.

This is the first time on record that DS uses the number eight for a production car. The company also says that the stylized number sign (№) is there to stay: it will precede all new model numbers from now on. You can already see the new badge printed on the trunk lid in the gallery below. Next to it is a new headlight unit.

As for the interior, it uses a two-tone trim and features a new steering wheel with X-shaped spokes, a slim center console and a large horizontal display on the dashboard. DS also promises us immersive ambient lighting that’s supposed to create the illusion of a floating infotainment screen when it’s dark outside.

Overall, the cabin design is rather fresh and unusual for DS. It involves numerous straight lines intersecting one another at odd angles. With an interior like this, we fully expect the body of the car to look just as experimental.

It is still unknown what kind of car the DS №8 will be, but the French marque posted a few photos of an unnamed coupe-like SUV in late November. It was wrapped in camo and was accompanied by a mention of 750 kilometers (466 miles) of driving range. It would make sense for that unnamed prototype to be the Number Eight.
