Nissan electrifies another sedan for Asia

Nissan’s Chinese vehicle lineup will soon expand to incorporate an all-new sedan called the N6. Here are its first images and certification specs.

On the outside, the car strongly resembles the N7 model co-designed with Dongfeng. It went on sale this spring and proved to be a solid performer with 17,000 prepaid reservations in the launch month. It may not seem like too much, but it does make a big difference for the struggling Japanese company – all the more so if you consider that the N7 is an EV.

Like its senior cousin, the N6 has a solid panel where the radiator grille usually is. It also features stacked headlights and a trapezoid bumper intake.

The dimensions are stated as 4,831 x 1,885 x 1,491 mm with 2,815 mm of wheelbase. This means that the N6 is 99 mm (3.87 in) shorter than the N7, 10 mm (0.39 in) narrower and has 100 mm (3.91 in) less wheelbase, but otherwise stays in the same size category. It seems to be restricted to 17- and 18-inch wheel diameters, while the N7 goes as big as 19 inches in the top trim.

Perhaps most importantly, though, the N6 isn’t fully electric. Its certification sheet describes it as a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated NR15-series engine and a front-mounted electric motor. The engine outputs 102 PS (101 hp / 75 kW), and the motor contributes 211 PS (208 hp / 155 kW) of its own. Rept Battero Energy supplies the LFP battery pack, but its capacity and range are pending.
