The BYD Xia is a full-size hybrid van for China

According to AutoHome.cn, the new BYD Xia van will occupy a position in the manufacturer’s luxury lineup called Dynasty, where every vehicle is named after a dynasty that the country in the past. Sales in China will start later this year from 300,000 Yuan (estimated).

The Xia looks more or less like any other BYD vehicle on the market today, with the company’s trademark headlights and a large radiator grille typical of this vehicle class. The side view resembles that of the Denza D9, a much more expensive and prestigious van from the same company. The dimensions are stated as 5,145 x 1,970 x 1,805 mm, and the wheelbase amounts to 3,045 mm.

The interior hasn’t been properly revealed yet. We expect it to have three seat rows with two individual seats in the middle row and the same front end layout as the Qin L sedan (meaning the dashboard and the displays).

Like most other BYD models, the Xia relies on a fifth-gen DM powertrain with so far undisclosed specs. According to rumors, it comprises a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) and an electric motor with 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW). Later on, an all-wheel-drive version with an added motor at the rear axle may be released. The electric range is estimated at 200 km (124 miles). For the suspension, the BYD Xia may get the company’s premium DiSus-C system, but without air cushions.
