Unofficial: Mitsubishi objects against alliance with Honda

According to Japanese media quoting insiders, Mitsubishi Motors doesn’t want to be controlled by Honda – so much so that it is trying to talk Nissan out of the deal.

Nissan currently owns a 34.01% share in Mitsubishi. At first, the company didn’t mind the merger with Honda, even signing a memorandum of understanding with Nissan, but something must have happened that made it reconsider its stance, the sources claim.

On the other hand, Mitsubishi reportedly doesn’t have enough funds right now to buy its independence from Nissan. As such, it may have to go through with the deal.
