Novelties
Toyota has claimed trademark rights for the model name Belta, which could be a rebadged/slightly modified version of the Suzuki Ciaz.
The compact sedan featured in our gallery and the video here has record dimensions in its vehicle class, measuring 4,490 millimeters (14.73 feet) long with 2,650 mm (8.69 feet) between the axles.
Just like the Toyota Urban Cruiser is a rebadged and mildly upmarket variant of the Suzuki Vitara Brezza, so can the Toyota Belta turn out being just a marginally better equipped Ciaz.
There is no reason to believe there will be a new engine. The original Suzuki uses a 1.5-liter four-pot rated at 105 PS (104 hp / 77 kW) in tandem with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing and availability remain unknown. The Toyota Belta – if it is what we believe it is – will primarily target the market of India, and might also get a release in Thailand.
