Check out a Toyota Supra with a 7.0L Hellephant engine

Most tuning projects revolving around the Toyota A80 Supra leave its legendary 2JZ engine in place – it takes a certain mindset to swap a treasure box like that for anything else. Still, ScrapLifeLee team YouTube says the car will do just fine with Mopar’s Hellephant crate engine squeezed into its engine bay.

In order for the monstrous 7.0-liter V8 to fit at all, the tuners had to cut through the front brace and modify the subframe. They also had to be very deliberate with moving the mounting points so as not to interfere with the steering rack. In the end, they succeeded as much as they could, leaving a 3.8-liter Whipple supercharger sticking above the normal Supra’s hood level by 15 cm (6 inches) or so. We hear they ended up covering it with an improvised aero cowl, so it should be fine.

As you can see, the build is still very much a work in progress. The fuel system, the transmission and the differential are in place, but not yet assembled into a drivetrain. Once everything is done, ScrapLifeLee expects to get around 1,521 PS (1,500 hp / 1,119 kW) out of the swap – that’s something you’d struggle to coax out of a 2JZ, even with the best tuning.
