AUDI E5 Sportback bows in China

Audi has come to the Auto Shanghai show with the first entry in its “AUDI” sub-brand co-managed with SAIC Group for China. The car is called “E5 Sportback”, and it’s a fairly large five-door crossover running on electricity.

The model is 4,870 mm (190.2 inches) long, 1,990 mm (77.7 inches) wide and 1,460 mm (57 inches) tall with 2,950 mm (115.2 inches) between the axles. The Advanced Digitised Platform it’s based upon has 800-volt internals and can replenish up to 370 kilometers (230 miles) of range in just 10 minutes of charging.

Customers in China will be choosing from four available versions, some of them RWD and others AWD. The flagship spec has already been announced with dual motors, 787 PS (776 hp / 580 kW) heading for the wheels and up to 770 km (478 miles) of CLTC range. Despite packing a 100-kWh battery, it sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds.
