New Ferrari patent application sheds light on EV engineering tricks

The Prancing Horse’s first electric vehicle destined for mass production is slated to debut in a few months, but in the meantime, we can take a closer look at its specifications.

The patent applications recently filed by the company describe two complex features designed by Ferrari to increase the engagement and excitement drivers get from their EVs.

One of these is a smart torque control system that quickly adjusts the torque on a per-wheel basis dependent on the currently active preset. What’s really interesting is that it also seems to take the driver’s style and habits into account when doing so.

The other feature comes in the shape of a mechanical resonator used to amplify the e-motor rumble and feed it into the cabin for the driver to better “feel the speed”.
