Inimitable Cadillac “EldoRODo” sold for $55k

Call it one of life’s injustices, but non-road-legal show cars usually wind up under the scrap press the moment they cease to be relevant. This heavily modified 1999 Cadillac Eldorado Touring Coupe was bound for the same destination when Tyler Hoover, from Hoovies Garage on YouTube, saved it from oblivion.

The exotic low-drag vehicle was originally commissioned by General Motors from California Street Rods. Chuck Lombardo built it in an all-new bright orange body with a sharply slanted windshield, a chopped roof and smooth, creaseless sides. He also removed all small details like side mirrors and door handles, downsized the headlights, and put 18-inch “moon disc” wheels into the arches. The result is an aerodynamic coupe like no other.

The interior was left stock except for some minor additions, and the engine was also left alone. The Eldorado of the early ‘80s came equipped with a 4.6-liter naturally aspirated V8 good for 304 PS (300 hp / 224 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque.

The EldoRODo went up on sale last week and fetched $55,000 – quite a lot for a vehicle with a junk title and no road registration. To us, it just goes on to show that truly unique and memorable builds are appreciated regardless of their limitations.
