Have a look at Nissan’s Tokyo Salon student project lineup

A group of students from the Nissan Automotive College will attend the Tokyo Auto Salon on January 10–12 with three rather odd-looking vehicles. There is a Nissan Z-nosed wagon, a Skyline homage, and a widened Bluebird Maxima.

Starting with the family hauler, it is called the Nissan Z Lealia. The idea was to design a sporty estate car that would allow the driver to combine adrenaline thrills with daily life. There is a second-generation Stagea underneath the mascara, the one that went into production in 2001 and stayed there until 2007. Added Z trim bits at the front end and Leaf parts at the back do make it somewhat sporty, but the dimensions and proportions are all over the place. An Ikazuchi Yellow paint job rounds off the weird build, which the students say took them six months to complete.

Next down the line is the Neo Skyline, a show car on the Infiniti G35 platform. As its name implies, it draws inspiration from the fourth-gen Skyline coupe from the 1970s. Round headlights, a retro radiator grille, vintage body outlines and bulging rear fenders all help achieve that special look. The finish is Tomoaki Blue.

Rounding off the trio is a 36-year-old Bluebird Maxima sedan flaunting a widebody kit that took 10 weeks to design, produce and apply. Aside from the added trim bits, the car looks unchanged – same styling cues, same proportions, same cabin.
