Peugeot working on an e-208 GTi

According to Alain Favey, CEO of the Peugeot brand since this February, the company has officially greenlit the development of a sporty GTi edition of its electric 208 model (see below).

With the Peugeot 308 GTi out of production since 2021, the renowned GTi lineup has stayed empty for too long, the new company boss argues. By putting the suffix onto an all-electric hatchback, Peugeot may be able to rekindle interest towards it. It should help that the company is developing in “on a priority basis”.

Technical details are non-existent as of today, but we expect the car to share its underpinnings with the Abarth 600e and Alfa Romeo Junior.
