Ram confirms cheaper truck plans

According to RAM CFO Doug Ostermann, the automobile brand is actively looking into the affordable large pickup segment of the market.

A while ago, company representatives said Ram could develop a mid-size pickup to compete with the Ford Ranger and the Chevrolet Colorado. Speaking in a recent interview, Ostermann mentioned something different: a full-size affordable truck like the long-discontinued 1500 Classic (seen in the gallery and the video).

It looks like the brand wants to fill a new market niche with a wallet-friendly truck, whether small or big. In the latter case, it’s likely to be based on the current Ram 1500 platform. In any case, these are only plans at this point – no release date estimates.
