Toyota GR Supra to get a V8 for the first time in history

Toyota is building a very special GR Supra for Australia using a 5.0-liter engine normally only found in Lexus cars. The catch? You won’t be able to buy it, because it is a one-off.

The car seen in the gallery here is a racer designed specifically to compete in the Supercars racing series Down Under. The regulations explicitly dictate the use of only naturally aspirated V8 engines, so the swap is actually mandatory for the Supra to enter the competition.

Once on the track, the Japanese sports car will primarily compete against Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang racers.
