Lotus the latest to reconsider its EV plan
Following in the tracks of most major automakers, Lotus has now admitted that it, too, will have to dial back its expectations from the EV segment of the car market.
The British marque’s original plans were quite ambitious and envisioned a complete shift towards electrification by 2028. However, with EV sales steadily on the decline even in China, the executives at Lotus realized that the so-called superhybrids might be the right way forward for the brand instead.
These hybrid supercars will arrive packing a turbocharged petrol engine, multiple electric motors and a fast-charging battery pack. Their projected range is estimated at 1,100 kilometers (683 miles). Other details are scarce at the moment.
