Manhart endows older BMW 5-Series Touring with extra agility

The G31-bodied BMW 540i Touring is a family-friendly car not really laid out for serious sports, but Manhart still offers a capable upgrade package for those interested.

One of the biggest improvements concerns the powertrain. An external ECU bolsters the output from the standard 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque to 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW) and 551 Nm (406 lb-ft). Higher tuning stages are also available upon request, but you’ll need to contact Manhart directly for the details and pricing.

Options start with a loud Remus muffler to show everyone you’ve got a tuned 5-Series Touring. H&R springs can be used to drop the ride height somewhat, and 20-inch Manhart Concave One wheels can be installed for extra fashion points. The body can be styled in elegant black in white as shown here, a detour from Manhart’s usual black-and-gold combo. A body kit featuring a Maxton rear wing is also on the list.

Inside, the tuner’s badges and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel just about sum up the modifications. There are no pricing details, but you can already find and preorder the kit on the Manhart official website – look for “MH5 450”.
