BMW M3 CS Touring bows in Europe

BMW has fully unveiled its new M3 CS estate.

Like its sedan counterpart, the five-door family hauler packs a 3.0-liter inline-six engine under the hood with 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW) at the crank. Paired with an M Steptronic eight-speed transmission and M xDrive all-wheel drive system featuring an active rear differential, the engine takes the car from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.5 seconds. The torque stays standard for this powertrain at 650 Nm (479 lb-ft).

BMW goes into impressive detail to show just how fast this new M3 wagon is. For one thing, it hits 200 km/h (124 mph) in 11.7 seconds. For another, it only needs 2.7 seconds to go from 80 to 120 km/h (50–75 mph) in fourth gear. If it’s already in its fifth gear, it takes 3.5 seconds, which is still impressive. M Driver’s Package is already included in the base spec, so the top speed lies at an impressive 300 km/h (186 mph).

Like any self-respective BMW M, this one features a stiffer body compared to the regular 3-Series and benefits from track-friendly suspension tweaks.
