The Buick Electra L7 is almost ready for launch in China, with carnewschina.com speculating that prices may lie between 250,000 and 300,000 Yuan. In the meantime, the company has shed some light on the configuration.
The car features an ergonomic front passenger seat comes with a four-way adjustable footrest and a foam lining that Buick claims is “just the right density”. You can extend it by 103 mm (4 inches) and engage the so-called Zero Gravity mode to create a 120-degree angle between your body, hip and shin. The company claims this position minimizes the stress on human bones and joints, enabling optimum relaxation. You can activate Zero Gravity via a dedicated button, the infotainment UI or a simple voice command.
Another interesting feature comes in the form of an audio system called Buick Sound. It features four speakers and two subwoofers mounted in the upper part of the cabin, creating a particularly realistic sound at and above the head level. The remaining 27 speakers reside on the dashboard, the doors, the headrests and the c-pillars, working together for an immersive 3D audio experience, Buick claims. It supports a variety of modes including “Private”, which only transmits the sound onto the selected headrests.
The dashboard houses a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch infotainment display. It runs on the latest-generation Qualcomm SA8775P hardware rated to withstand temperatures ranging from –40 to +125 degrees Celsius (–40…+257 ºF).
Options include a HUD with Augmented Reality features and an autopilot system that – for the first time for Buick – uses a LiDAR in addition to the usual cameras and millimeter-range radars. It comes with light beacons all around the body to notify the other drivers that the car is moving in autonomous mode. Another important feature made possible by this package is akin to Tesla’s Sentry Mode: when activated, it uses sensors and cameras to monitor the situation around the car.
