Russia-made UAZ Patriot set to debut in North America at the LA Auto Show

Russian automaker UAZ will be bringing its SUV Patriot to the Los-Angeles Auto Show in November. The car will go on sale under the Bremach badge, but will technically be the same as the Russian one.

Bremach – the company that will handle the importing and the sales – mentioned once that the off-roader would be known as the Bremach Taos, but the latest announcement reveals a different name, Bremach 4x4 SUV. Maybe there was a legal collision with the Volkswagen Taos; there has been no official comment yet.

Media first learned about the UAZ Patriot coming to North America in late 2020, but the company apparently still has some certificates to obtain. Like in its home country, it will use a 2.7-liter ZMZ Pro engine in conjunction with an automatic transmission. Stick shift won’t be available, and minor tweaks will be made in the ways individual units and electronic components function.

According to Bremach President Reinier Hoogenraad, a narrow circle of SUV enthusiasts already received their Patriots for test driving, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The car is being marketed as a highly capable and reliable body-on-frame off-roader with plenty of space inside.

Prices begin at U.S. $24,405, mere $2,000 under the starting price of the new Ford Bronco in its simplest trim.

Bremach also plans to bring the UAZ Pickup to the United States, which it hopes to be able to sell at least for $27,882 before taxes. There is little known about this one, however, including whether the company had already started obtaining certificates for it.
